Fraunhofer Institute for Nondestructive Testing Dresden branch (IZFP-D)
Fraunhofer IZFP develops solutions for nondestructive testing (NDT). Industrial customers get help wherever quality and reliability of their products and services should be improved, in the public area the institute contributes to the topics health, energy and environment. The Dresden branch of IZFP is especially focussed to applied microelectronics and nanotechnology. Quality assurance in light weight engineering, the development of testing electronics for various application fields and high-resolution nanoanalysis are some of the main fields of activity at IZFP Dresden. One essential core competence is the applied development of Structural Health Monitoring Systems to validate the structure of rotor blades.

ROTOR BLADE MONITORING SYSTEM
What we offer:
The aim of a SHM system is an application for the periodical monitoring of rotor blades by
a permanent system which ensures a condition oriented testing and repair as well as a
long term planning of inspection and repair activities.
The SHM system is characterized by a sensor network distributed over the entire rotor
blade to detect and localize any occurring damage. In order to avoid false alarms and to
locate and to characterize the damage accurately, three independent measuring methods
are used and combined.
What we are looking for:
To increase the availability of a wind turbine and its rotor blades with our monitoring system we want to get in touch with wind turbine manufactures as well as rotor blade manufactures and end user of wind turbines.
For further projects in the field of structure health monitoring we keep on looking for motivated partners with innovative ideas.
